Hi,
I have some major issues connecting my Kronos to my W7 64 bit system.
I installed the latest korg driver. I can also see the kronos in the control panel/system/sound devices when the korg is connected, so the driver should be installed ok. But when I start the V2 editor the Kronos is not detected (V2.02).
Also in Cubase I dont see the korg kronos midi driver.
Is there anybody with the same problem, I hope somebody can help me.
Martijn

In windows Vista and downwards, there is a limit of 10-MIDI drivers in general, it looks like this might be the case for Windows 7 too.
Try this:
1 ) Windows -> Start -> Run -> RegEdit.exe
2 ) Navigate into Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32\
3 ) Notice how many MIDI entries you have there, I guess your Korg driver could be about MIDI9, which can be the problem.
4 ) Before making changes, we need to backup the registry by:
5 ) File -> Export Registry Settings -> Save As -> Whatever file ... ENTER...
6 ) Repeat the same for Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Userinstallable.drivers
7 ) Remove the duplicate entries from both the above keys (i.e. Drivers32 and UnInstallableDrivers), and also I recommend removing anything above midi10 (leave everything else).
8 ) Re-Number the drivers there (don't worry, it's save), for instance, if you had MIDI1 and then MIDI2 and then MIDI3, and the say you removed MIDI2, then rename the key of MIDI3 to be MIDI2, in other words, ensure that all your MIDI drivers go in a sequence having no gaps (important)
9 ) Un-Install Korg driver, and then
10 ) Re-Install Korg midi driver, and try to ensure that it goes into any MIDI entry below or equal to 9.
11 ) Switch on, and let me know if this works.
I hope this helps, let me know.
Kind Regards

I think an easier way of checking the driver list and removing/reinstalling the drivers is to use the Korg Unistall tool found in the Korg folder of the start menu -> programs. (Clicking on the uninstall icon will open a window where you can review your drivers - it won't unistall anything till you tell it to).
This allows you to view the korg drivers (and the other drivers) on your system. Try to have a copy of any drivers you delete in case they are needed for something vital, so you can reinstall them if needed.
Using the Korg Unistall tool also means you don't need to dig about in the registry files, where mistakes can cause problems - (I speak from experience).
Both ways work, but with the tool you can do it all from a couple of screens/popups.
If you have two Korg drivers showing (Standard & Kronos) then delete the 'Standard' one.
It's worth labelling which USB port you use with which devices because if you plug a device into a new USB port it will load another driver each time and take up unused driver slots.

I think the million dollar question is:
Did either method work yet? I.e. is the problem resolved now?
Cheers

I went through a similar issue with the korg nanokey2. I was almost to the point of returning it but it randomly started working. I just kept messing with the uninstall feature that was mentioned in a previous post and changing usb ports until it finally worked.
Although I never got the driver to work with my Kronos. It randomly asked me to update the driver one day after I installed the Korg midi driver program and I knew better but clicked yes anyway (If it's not broken don't fix it) The kronos disappeared from my DAW, Sibelius and from my computer in general. I had to uninstall everything Korg driver related on my system in order to get it to show up again.
I think Korg products in general just don't get along with Windows 7 64 bit. It was really frustrating with the KP3 as well not being able to update it without a 32 bit system.
