Okay, I do have powered speakers, but I travel a lot I need a much smaller speaker to carry with me while I'm away, would a computer speaker work through the Microstation's headphone input?

Right, I could've just plug in and try it out but I didn't want to risk anything here I thought it'd better asking first. The one I'm intending to use is a 2.1 Sony with 25Watts including woofer, would that be too much watt for the Microstation's headphone input?

All your replies are much appreciated

Thanks

I think what you meant to say is would that be to much for the microstations output not input. I have played my M50 from the headphone out into 450 watt behringer speakers with absolutely no problems.

No problem - I also have connected a computer 2.1 Audio rig on the microStation headphone output plug.

It will work but you will notice some Hiss sound and also it depends on your PC speakers. You can connect the PC speakers to the microstation if you wanted.
