This question may seem stupid, but I've bought boards in the past only to find I couldn't do things that seemed obvious.

I want to have a Krome 61 above a weighted controller and play piano sounds from the controller and organs sounds from the Krome keybed at the same time.

Is that possible?

... don't even need the controller if you can split the keyboard (still only two hands, right, or did you get the optional 3rd arm with the mail-in coupon?).

I find two stacked keybeds (with the octaves lined up) much easier than reaching across the entire board to do an organ stab or something.

True. That's my own preference. But with used Triton 61's going for $450 on Guitar Center's Used Gear site - why not spend $100 more (than a typical controller board) and get sounds too instead of just the controller?

I would say apart from floppy drive based (!) sampling, a Krome 61 probably beats a Triton 61 in virtually every category.

Unless you meant he get a Triton 88 which is probably more expensive, not to mention sounds a lot more dated so the OP would likely end up using just the Krome sounds in the end.

It's not really clear from the OP whether he has a Krome + controller or only has plans to get that configuration and wants to check to see if it can do what he wants.

I was suggesting that for the price slightly more that that of a Krome plus a 61 note controller (@ ~ $350) that the OP could have a Krome plus a synth of not inconsiderable capability.

I was not suggesting that that he not buy the Krome - just that he should check out all the options for a second board.

Without spending more than a grand for the second keyboard.

And with the type and quality of sounds that he's currently trying to wring out of the MIDI connection to the Krome.

Triton is - I hope we can agree - a less-than-sucky platform for many sounds.

If OP's willing to play two keyboards why not take advantage of the availability of readily available flagship synths at rock-bottom prices.

Just checked. 3 @ ebay under $500, 3 more at GC-used also under $500 (one says just Triton but the offer pictures an Extreme 61).

Not necessarily, a Krome next to a Triton Extreme equiped with MOSS or
even without it it will only make Squeaking noises.

Well, if you are keeping your SV1 as your "controller" then no problem because it generates its own piano sounds. Another way is to set up a combi with organ sound routed int and a piano sound routed ext and hook up both keybeds via midi. That is if you want to use the Krome onboard piano sound.
