Greetings one and all I was wondering if any one here has recently bought a used Radias Keyboard Controller? I am looking at a few around the net and at used music stores. The average price I see is around $350 on the net. How much did the controller cost as an option. At least I thought it was available separately at one time?

I think it was rarely available separately. I saw perhaps one store out of all the ones in the UK offering it as a separate product. The rest were either Radias-R or Radias+KB.

The M3 ones could definitely not be bought separately except 2nd hand.

I hear the keyboard--the actual keybed with rack holder for the seperate Radias module--doesn't actually support aftertouch even though the Radias' MMT engine does. It's therefore probably better to just get an aftermarket controller keyboard or a used synth that has aftertouch, which should be possible within that price range and with a little persistance. $350 is a brutal price for that uglyass, poorly-spec'ed keyboard controller...I picked up a used AN1x for $300 and recommend you look for something similar because it gives you a whole other synth engine to stack! If you're dead set on the official keyboard, I wouldn''t spend more than $100 on it.

Although none of the factory presets take advantage of it (by default, mod source MIDI5 is set up as aftertouch), a lot of my programs that are downloadable for example do.

I agree...the Radias keybed isn't worth more than $100. Get something with aftertouch and at least 5 octaves and control the Radias via MIDI. Your ears will be much happier!

Sad but true.

It's a shame that Korg paired a powerful synth like the Radias with a lame keyboard.

I think it looks good, but the lack of AT and perhaps other controllers lets it down.

I always like the joystick on Korg workstations because it effectively gives you two modwheels (CC1 up and CC2 down). Apparently if you use the M3 keybed even standalone with the Radias you don't get those features. So it works better if you run the Radias from the M3's MIDI port, making the entire special setup kind of pointless.
