Kronos Editor 2

When launched, auto sense gives msg: "A compatible Kronos v2 with OS v2.0 or higher was not detected".
My details:
Kronos X 88 has OS 2.0.6 installed
KRONOS Global Midi filter "enable exclusive" is checked.
Win 7 desktop with Kronos Editor 2
Core i7 920 2.67 Ghz / 48 GB Ram
USB cable connected / no MIDI cables connected
KORG midi/USB driver is installed - DrvTools_e(1.14_r3)
I can see the following settings:
midi 15: Standard Driver (KRONOS) <connected>
midi 16: KORG KRONOS <connected>
Device manager shows KORG KRONOS using the KORG driver 1.14.3.3
In Kronos Editor v2 under options/prefernces/settings I forced Ch 16, but that didn't work either.
I still get:
"ERROR! After multiple attempts, no response from instrument! Continuing...
when receiving a Korg Kronos Global"
Can anybody help?
Thanks in advance.

I would expect the OS is incorrect, but you seem to have a 2.x version.

Did you also contact Korg support?

Maybe deleting the midi 15 standard korg driver would make a difference (using the Korg Driver Uninstall tool) - it may be trying to load both drivers and not loading the korg kronos driver?

I've had messages on my Windows 7 laptop telling me that I have exceeded the driver limit - which is certainly a problem in Windows XP.

Having said that I've not had an actual problem in Windows 7; I've just had the warning ...

Maybe someone who is IT literate can shed some light on the 'driver limitation' problem across the different Microsoft Operating systems?

PS. 48GB RAM? - that is a lot for a desktop, have I read it correctly?

Not that I am THE expert, but Sparker is right, there are limitations with MIDI-Ports in Windows. This is also true for Win 7. But my guess is that this is more an issue of the driver rather than the OS:

I have made the experience in Win 7 that some MIDI-equipment drivers allow for a MIDI-Port of 1 to 16 only. My first attempt with the Kronos Editor and Midi-driver was just the same. It did not work. But after changing the Midi-Port everything works fine.

How to do it. First check, if what I said happens to be your case. By the way Midi-channel and Midi-port are not the same thing

1) Run the Korg Midi Uninstall Utility and check the list of Midi-Ports. Is your Kronos/Korg driver beyond midi16? If yes, continue ...

2) Use the Korg driver uninstall tool, click on "option" and uncheck the "Delete Korg Midi Device only" checkbox. Now you can uninstall any of the Midi drivers.

3) The list of Midi drivers may show some "corrupted" entries. Those can IMO checked for deletion without regret later. Just try to free up some ports below 17 to make room for the Korg driver.

4) Reinstall the Kork driver.

That worked for me ... :D

this works
