Forum Search Problems?

When I do a search and a large number of results are returned I'm not able to go to the next page. It just shows an error message that says "No topics or posts met your search criteria". Searches with a small number of results works fine.

For example... Search "karma" returns 3734 results and paging works. Search "midi thru" returns 14083 and paging does not work.

This is happening on 2 different machines with different Windows and browser versions (Vista/IE9 and Win8/IE10). Is it just me?

The same thing happens for me although I have no idea why. It probably just can't handle such a large search.

If you search for "midi thru" it looks for all searches with midi or thru in it. That's why you have such large results returned.

In the search box you need to enter "midi and thru". Then it will search for all posts with midi and thru in them and that narrows it down to 788.

If you are using more than one word, like midi thru. Then you certainly don't want to have the option "Search for any terms or use query as entered" ticked as that will pull up every single post that contains those two words either on their own or together.

You should leave the search engine on the default option "Search for all terms".

This will pull up only the threads that contain the two words midi thru together.
