Expression Pedal Hardwired to Amp Level?

I recently got a Korg XVP-10 Expression/Volume Pedal to go with my Korg RADIAS. It appears to be assigned to MIDI CC#11, and by assigning the MIDI1 to #11 (Global -> P04), I can use the expression pedal like a mod wheel by using MIDI1 to control various things via Virtual Patch.

There is a catch, however. In addition to controlling whichever parameters I specify, the pedal also invariably controls the amp level. I believe this is some form of MIDI "hardwiring," but I cannot figure out how to disable this. For example, the mod wheel is hardwired to VibratInt, which can be set to 0 under the Pitch tab. There does not seem to be any such option for expression pedal and amp level. On multitimbral patches with drum sets, the expression pedal controls amp level on everything but the drums.

I have browsed through the MIDI mapping (Global -> P07), but the amp level is mapped to CC#07, not #11, and changing this value to anything else or turning it off completely does nothing.

Has anyone dealt with this before, and does anyone have a solution?

Are you using the Radias software editor/librarian? Or are you menu diving through the LCD? If you're using the LCD, then that's why you can't find what you want, because it's like having to search for something in a large, dark house with only a candle to see anything. So get the editor software working first, if you haven't done so. Then we can talk about where to find the thing that you can't find.

The problem is that there are various MIDI CCs that are defined for certain purposes for the MIDI standard.

CC7 is Volume, 11 is Expression (which is intended for realtime control of volume), I also think 8 or 9 is used to set Pan, etc.

You will probably want to change the MIDI CC that is sent by the pedal, which is found in the Global section I think.

I tried changing the MIDI CC for Amp Level from 7 to various other values. The pedal still affected Amp Level. I could not find any options in the Global section (I check both the synth LCD menu system and the editor/librarian software) for changing the CC over which the pedal communicates.

Read page 119 of the owners manual. There's a global parameter that controls how the Radias responds to the expression pedal. It has nothing to do with midi. Midi cc#'s are only generated if you set the pedal to the BreathControl or FootPedal, then you can map those cc's to synth parameters in the global cc map. If you set it to mod wheel, then you can just use it instead of the mod wheel.

@xmlguy: It was as simple as that--thanks for clearing things up for me.
