Curious, does or has Korg ever released a new product first at Musikmesse? Any odds we would see something new there that wasn't at summer NAMM? I think anything new is fun so I don't care where they release it first, but should I be getting my anticipation up for this year?[/img]

It's unlikely that Korg will announce anything new at Musikmesse considering they just announced both the King Korg and the MS-20 Mini as well as several other products at NAMM.
I'm hoping for something big from Roland or Yamaha but I'm not getting my hopes up there either.

I just get excited. Maybe i am one of the few but i think namm had great releases. MS20 mini, prophet 12, sub phatty, king korg, I am sure there is more. Now I am waiting to see what Nord or Roland do. I wondered about Korg but thinking on it I bet you're right. They did it all at namm.

Yamaha is
long overdue. The Motif line has just been a series of ho-hum upgrades and more sample RAM for 12+ years now.
Time they stopped sitting on their hands and actually release something truly innovative, but... I'm not expecting anything.

Messe is a much bigger event than NAMM, so you never know.
I'm quite surprised Yamaha didn't release anything at NAMM, so I'd put money on Messe for a Yamaha release. They really really need to do something.

Sharp.

Yes, Yamaha is becoming a dinosaur... I recently heard that the Kronos is outselling the Motif XF.
With all the innovations and new products from other companies (especially more and more affordable analog synths) it amazes me that Yamaha hasn't introduced
anything truly innovative in the last couple of years!
Maybe they just don't care anymore?

Did they ever? ( or any other commercial enterprise for that matter)

Look at what Yamaha produced in the 80's... the DX series synths. Now that was innovative. The DX-1 was a beautiful instrument:
And back in the 70's, they produced the CS series. The CS-80 was a classic synth used by many popular bands of that time as well as electronic musicians:
Just two examples from a company that used to bring excitement to the keyboard market.

Not forgetting the first physical modelling synth, the VL1, a year before Korg released the Prophecy.

Looking at those pictures takes me one step closer to ordering a Prophet 12.

Sadly Kawai is not making any Synths anymore.
But I still have their best one:

(It has knobs too!)
