Sound variation changes when saving a favorite

Hi,

I've just bought an SV-1 88 Black. When I save a favorite, some of the slots seem to change the sound variation from the one I've selected. I'm not clear if this is a problem/bug or if this is something I can change, or something I'm not understanding because I'm new to it. Grateful for any assistance. I have the 1.2 OS pre-loaded, and I loaded Soundpack 2 onto it.

For example, I switch the keyboard on, change the base sound to Piano, and then the variation to number 3. I then press Favorite button 8 to save it. It flashes, I press it again to confirm, and after a second once it's saved, the variation changes to number 2. Nothing else changes. If I then re-select variation 3, the favorite button switches off, but then trying to re-save it causes it to revert to variation 2 again. This seems to happen with all the base sounds - variations 4-6 change to the one two down when they're saved, but then clav variation 2 changes to 3 when it's saved to a Favorite!

So far the only Favorites I can reliably save & recall have been those based on variation 1, or 2.

If anyone could help me understand this or advise I'd be grateful.

Thanks.

It's a weird thing that the SV-1 does. The favorites will not necessarily show the correct variation. They don't have to come from a variation at all. You can load different patches into those slots from the editor that are not loaded anywhere else in the SV-1, so the variation LED doesn't apply to favorites.

Yup, just ignore the variation light in your favorites... listen to your sound and you'll see that its saved correctly.

To underscore the point, think about the default favorites in SoundPack 2...there are splits in there that aren't available anywhere via the instrument selection knobs.
