UPDATE HERE:::

Mar I just bought those exact pads and....they are PINK!!!! Not grey like the pads for most other Korg boards...

I sent an urgent email back to Parts is Parts, to get them to double check with Korg that these are REALLY the correct ones, and not the ones issued by Korg Spare Parts division at the same time as the original Kronos release, and in effect are the "old" stock of sometimes faulty pad sttrips.....

I recall that it was determined that you can't go by color

Thanks Greg....I recall reading a couple of posts in the "long" threads mentioning using blue and then grey, but any Pink were the "dodgy" ones...

Maybe Dan at Korg will notice this and advise...

The unknown here is just how old the Parts Is Parts stock is, and after it was discovered by Korg that the pads were faulty, did they ask for all issued pads to 3rd party vendors be returned for replacement units - even if pink?

Trouble is I have the keybed ready to go for the pad replacement, but I am not going to go to the bother of doing it all, re-assembling the keyboard only to find the dbl strike and cut-off is still there because of "old" stock....

I don't think you can rely on the colour. Mine are pink and guaranteed by Korg to be the newer ones. I also do not get the double bounce problem.

Do you know of any way to tell any differences between old pink and new pink Bob?

Nope unfortunately not.

We can't go by the colour anymore.
As you may remember I mentioned in a previous post that Korg UK say that the original were pink, then used blue ones on a temporary basis and eventually went back to the pink ones.

They now use pink rubber contacts and are convinced they do not produce any further problems.

You may well find that the ones you have as replacements will be ok.....

Unfortunately we,as owners, can't tell the difference between them, apparently they don't have batch numbers on the parts themselves.....perhaps the packaging does...?

Are they Korg stock....or third party parts ?

Try and see time.....(at least you can eliminate the rubber parts,if you still have keybed problems).

Good Luck

Best Wishes.

Korg UK said the same to me, they only ordered blue ones in to help the engineers keep them separate when they had the initial batch of replacements to keep them separate.

My X88 has pink contacts and all the notes play 100% fine

The important fundamental point here: Can you provide us with the exact part number and link to the site so we won't have any further confussion :?:

Ok so we can use that as a definitive, tried and approved reference

Well you are more experienced with Korg gear than I am :) (just a guess)

I have refurbished 3 Korg boards and they ALL used the grey ones.

Which I might add, are actually to low in height and also have attaching lugs which the pink do not. So would not work on the K.

So the physical side of the strip is correct, but the colour does worry me....

I've heard stories like there are also pink contacts which now works correctly, there are also grey and blue...

But it the contacts perfectly work on your keybed: no more note cutoffs, velocity working consistently and aftertouch working perfectly, then we may conclude that part is correct...

Parts is Parts have not got back to me yet, so I might just "run" with these and see what happens - as Bob and Joe said, same colour, no problems.

I will HOPE that as the pad issue was discovered some time back. PiP have updated their stock....

I have the RAM installed, the new ssd cloned and in, and the new fan - all I am waiting on is the pads q...

But it is an incredibly easy job to do - easier than any of the other Korg boards I have worked on, so if the issue is still there...I will do it again but ensuring I get correct stock...as much as doing it again is a p.i.t.a. :)

PS: I think I will however put a little dot on the old ones in case I get called away mid-job
