Studio Or Executive?


Any suggestions plz

Neither if you're using them to monitor your keyboard. Better off with a neutral monitor headphone like, Audio Technica M50 or better yet a Shure SRH840 or 1840. I use the 840 and it makes a great headphone for my Pa3X. Very natural pianos and instruments. Beats will have too much bass and uncontrolled sound.

Stay away from Shure. They sound good but the build quality sucks. I had SHR940 and the extenders cracked and the cord connection became loose. Sony MDR-7520 or MDR-7510 if you have a limited budget.

Sorry, but you can't make a generalisation on one bad experience. My 840s are fantastic and served me well for several years. I purposely did not mention the 940 because they don't sound natural according to many reports I've read. As far as build quality, I don't know about them but the 840s are solid as a rock.

Regardless of the build quality all of the models mentioned so far (including mine) are closed back. Many people consider open backed more natural sounding.

In any case, the Beats have noise cancelation which in my opinion takes away from the natural quality of the sound. Here is a general video comparing the Studio and Executive if you have your heart set on them.

I've never used the Monster Inspiration so I can't comment on the sound. I wouldn't use them for studio work as I'm not a fan of noise canceling headphones. They look cool and I would consider getting them for mobile use.

to go very low and very high on very loud levels.
Very solid also on the head .
Mine came with 2 spare earpads and a transport bag.
The cable can easily been replaced.

Bald Eagle, I appreciate your opinion and you have a point to raise open backs as an option. But I personally dislike them for keyboard use. I have several pairs of both open and closed, and for music listening, I prefer my Sennheiser HD600s as the open back provides a nice soundstage. But open backed phones are not always neutral. The tone and signature is the domain of the tuning of the phones. I do agree active noise cancelling is not the best for keyboards. My Bose a great on a plane but I never use them for anything else.

For monitoring my Pa, I prefer closed back to isolate me from background noise and also others cannot hear my random play and sometimes boring practice which they can find annoying. As others have confirmed, the 840s are a good keyboard headphone.

jasem_bond, I have not heard or read much on the Inspiration. Let us know your thoughts on them after you've had them awhile. Others reading this thread will benefit from your experience.

Recently I have been using closed back for better isolation and liked the products from Shure (not anymore) and Sony better for that purpose. I have been considering getting the Sennheiser HD600 or HD650 to use in certain situations where open back would be more appropriate. I have used Sennheiser open backs in the past and found them to be quite good.

I auditioned the 650 but found them bass heavy in comparison. Of course that would suit many folks but my upper frequency hearing is off a little at 60 so to my the 600s are just about perfect. I'd have to spend at least a grand to get better but these are so satisfying and comfy, they tick all my boxes except as monitors. Incredible value phone as you can find them for sub-$300 these days. I do recommend auditioning headphones with your own music once you're paying more than $100 and especially when there are several phones pretty close like the 598, 600 and 650 around let alone other brands.

I want to point out some details concerning choice and distinguish between headphones and usage generally.

- A wireless system can never be > .96 of a cable transfer (< 96%)
- Wireless system always add noise floor and extensive filtering eliminates real audio source frequencies.
- Active external audio trap that creates reversed phase of external audio seriously damages any high end response
of headphone transducers and is the option of travelers not Musicians.
- All above are out of discussion for professional audio & mastering !
- A non wave exhausting headphone cabinet can never result as ambient environment hearing and will never be flat in
LF response , that's why new generation headphones always have open back cabinet.
- DJs have entirely different sound perspective compared to Musicians , especially to studio sound mastering guys like me.
- Pa3X is an arranger and if well developed then must be treated as a production CD not as a "virtual DJ" with mp3 crap !

I can recommend the Tascam TH-02, is incredible how good is the sound, how well fits and is incredible cheap.
