I ordered one from a site it was it would work for the r3 and what do you know it doesn't. and when I asked for the correct one they told me they have been discontinued. has anyone ordered an r3 adapter or equivalent online and had success with it? a link would be greatly appreciated

Find another site where they don't lie to you. The power supply for the R3 has NOT been discontinued. It's the exact same model of power supply that's used for the X50 and several other Korg products.
