M50-61 weird noise problems - just started

I'm getting an underlying tone - almost a phaser-like sustain - when using certain patches. And it only happens on certain keys on some patches. It started Friday morning in the rehearsal room and persisted at a gig on Friday night.

I did a full reset this morning - played the Grand Piano patch and the noise is still there. Any suggestions short of taking it in for service?

Thank you!

Mike

I can't speak from experience on the M50 but I had what could be a similar problem on an M3. I would get unexpected modulations while playing certain patches for no apparent reasons.

It turned out to be a bad jotsick sending out random signals that caused various pathces to behave badly. You may want to check that and any other controllers that may be failing.

I only narrowed it down to that by disabling midi events on each timbre to verify that was the casue.

Other possibilities include;
1. You have other (midi?) gear hooked up and somehow made a midi loop by accident.
2. You are running to the mixer in stereo but are not panning the channels correctly.

Do you get the same problem playing with headphones?

I disconnected all cables except for power and outputs. Noise still exists whether through PA or through a Hotspot monitor. No difference through the headphone jack. :(
