Combi Demo: Live Mashup - Scream Domino QR

Post by QuiRobinez »

Here's a live mashup I created using the Scream Domino QR Combi from the dance experience sound set and the vocals of :
Will I Am - Scream & Shout
Jessie J - Domino.

I've created the vocal in Cubase and added that to an HD-1 Program which I assigned for this video to the C#1 key. Then I added this note to Pad 7 of the Pad control, so as soon as I need the vocal in the combi I just hit pad 7 and the vocal plays in sync with the KARMA modules i'm using in this Combi.

All sounds are from the Dance Experience soundset (Programs and Combis)

I don't know if youtube will keep allowing to have this track online, but as long as it does, here's the video:

Wow, excellent sounds and playing. Exactly my style of music. For me, the dance experience sound set is an instant buy!

:) great! I'm also really enthousiastic about it because the sound set has sounds for different styles of dance / trance music. Most sounds are programmed with the AL-1 Synth Engine which is perfect for this kind of music. Also in this video all sounds are from the AL-1 Synth engine.

thanks, there will be more demos, the previous demo was a trance demo, this one is a more modern sounds demo, but there will be a couple of more videos in the future that shows the other type of sounds for other dance styles in the sound set. I'm playing a lot with the current sounds and combis that are ready and i am constantly finetuning the end result to get it up to my own sound standards. I really like the combis i have ready now they show a quite different sound palet of the Kronos with the sounds and KARMA programming.

Cool! Not many people discovered my Kronos magazine on Flipboard (15 people found it), so it's nice to read that you are one of them!

I found your magazine when searching for korg kronos and became a valuable resource to me, it's easy to follow your tutorials from there. :)

Just curious: how did you extract the vocal parts from the songs?

Thanks, it's a shame that i can't post any of my other recreations of some of the hit songs, they sound to close to the original and i don't want to risk my youtube channel due to copyright infringement, but the kronos is really suited for those type of songs.

But such a mashup is just fun to do. I use the kronos a lot in combi mode with vocals that i put in sync with the combi, that way i have all the possibilities to experiment with chord progressions. The real mashup i create in cubase with the possibilities of the kronos and other synths and fx, so that i can recreate the endresult with the progressions from the kronos. For this video i didn't do this, this is live with one combi and recorded straight from the kronos.

It's still a lot of fun that i can use the kronos in multiple ways and different styles, and that the kronos can do it all. None of my other synths can do that :)
