Stripping out GM info from imported Midi files

Post by briansmoke »

Hi.

I just got a Krome 73 (got the 61 home, and ran out of keys, so ordered a 73). (I already have an SV1-88 )

I'm going to be using this in a function band, and will use it both for playing live, and playing some backing parts for songs, while I play guitar.

Now while I know I have a massive undertaking to get fully into the manuals and learn all of the stuff here, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is an easy way to strip out the program name information from an imported midi file.

Essentially, I'd like to mute some parts, change the GM sounds to better ones, and edit the parts etc.

Getting the midi files into the sequencer is easy enough, and I can change the sounds, but as soon as the song is rewound to the beginning, the embedded program data re-loads all of the GM sounds.

I'd appreciate any help on this.

I'm printing out manuals as I type this, and I have a lot of reading to do.

Hello Brian,

Your MIDI file probably have a "Program Change" event at beginning of each track. Go for Event Edit and remove those events and is should work. I had same problem.
