KP3: Weird graphics(?) issue / Restore factory settings?

So...my memory's a bit fuzzy on this one, but I'll try to give as accurate a description as I can of the events leading up to me posting this.

Long time ago, I got myself a KP3. After the firmware update (there may have been some other events in between; I can't remember), I noticed the lights were behaving a bit differently. Most noticeably in the "loop" effects, instead of the marker being four lights in a diamond shape, it's a big tidal wave of lights. That's a stupid description, but it's like... Where my finger is, all lights above and below it light up, and every light to the left of all those lights, all the way to the leftmost edge of the touch pad, so the only lights not shining are to the right of my finger, and at the very point where my finger touches the pad. Not sure if that makes sense. At first I thought it might be a glitch, but I didn't know what to do about it, and it didn't change any of the functionality, so I just let it be and eventually just assumed it was one of the changes in the firmware update.

Today, I got my second KP3, and updated the firmware. I'm definitely seeing a difference between my two units, so I can safely infer that the difference in my old KP3 was not a feature of the firmware update.

Again, I don't know if this matters at all, but I'm curious as to what's causing it and whether I can fix it. Was the firmware update I did years ago botched? Can I un-botch it? The updater says it's already the latest firmware, so it won't update, but what do I do if I want to re-install it? Can I roll it back to the factory OS?

try this

1. Press 1 and 2 and Sampling while powering on the KP3.

2. PrLD will appear in the LED.

3. C will be on, D will be flashing.

(This is where Korg left me, after waiting and not seeing any change I pressed D. I know, genius!)

4. Press D.

5. urt will flash in the LED.

6. P.off will then appear in the LED.

7. Power off and on the KP3, enjoy factory reset goodness.

Thanks! It didn't fix the graphics issue, but thanks none the less.
Anybody got any clue what's causing the weirdness?

Thanks. Looking at the little ribbon cable, it looks to me well fastened, but it also appears to be folded and not in very good condition. Can I replace it? Does it have a name?

ETA: By the way, it's not a calibration issue. It's the lights acting weird...and occasional glitches (the loop effect not stopping when the finger is removed, even though the lights seem to indicate that the finger was indeed removed). The touch calibration is perfectly normal.
