Dear Sir,
In the TR, is it possible to play or record the audio, even though the EXB-SMPL board is not installed.
Regards,
Satya

If you want a recording of what you have played you should look at the sequencer, which records the note on/note off events (MIDI) then plays them back using the synth's engine to provide sound.
The sequencer allows you to record multiple tracks, gives you editing options, lets you change the voice to hear how it would sound using a different instrument, and lets you move your playing to different synths or a computer fairly easily.
Provided that you are not quantizing the events, you should get an exact recording of your playing... including all your mistakes. MIDI lets you fix some of that rather than having to re-record over and over.
So far as I know, true recording of sound can only be done (with the LE) using outboard gear; a recorder of some sort or a computer which can record digital audio.
