midi to audio ableton live?

Post by xenoglossiac »

Hello guys, I read from yahoo answers that you can convert midi to audio.

This is the person who stated this:
"3. The third way, which is what i often do although it is the most complex, is to do both of the above.
You record the parts in midi, edit them to your hearts desire and when you are done transfer them back into Logic as audio. You then disable the midi parts (keep them in case you want to redo them) and have only the audio which you can process as you like."

How would I go abouts doing this, and how is it even possible?
how would i get it to sound like my R3 sounds once turned to audio?

Thank you

The comment you quoted left out one major piece of information; you also need to connect the synthesizer to the computer and record the audio*

Basically what the guy is saying is you first create/record and edit your MIDI track data, then record the audio of the synthesizer as the MIDI data plays the instrument for you.

*For getting audio into your computer, see this guide:

That's not how MIDI works. MIDI is instructions. Your R3 reads these instructions and interprets them through its synthesis engine. MIDI is not an audio signal. You cannot get your MIDI data to sound like the R3 in your software without using some form of softsynth to interpret this.

You got your answer now hear this: online forums are basically a place where you can come to clarify and contextualize the information you've already found doing your own research.

Get old hearing the same thing over and over? It sure does. That basic research--even in this forum from posts within the past week--should be enough to sate your need to ask this cretinous question, you halfwit. This functionally braindead question has been asked by similarly mindless numbnuts and answered in great detail plenty of times already. Don't be a clueless gimp. 8)

EDIT: I see the last poster asking this question was you. I'm sorry to hear you're not further along in your understanding of what you're trying to do. Consider taking up a new hobby.

Maybe you shouldn't be harsh and resort to name calling like a child would. If he is having a difficult time learning something you shouldn't bash him for it.
