Sequencer changing speed

Heya fellow musicians!

Do any of you use the sequencer as a metronome to play along?

I'm asking because everytime I do, I can hear it very slighly slowing down and picking up speed every so often!

I sorta forgot about it until last week when I started setting up click tracks for my band. The drummer noticed the exact same thing, so I'm glad I'm not crazy.

Before calling Korg, gotta ask if anyone experienced anything similar.

Regards,
Den

To much coffee maybe?

I don't think it is possible to be honest, for that to happen on a digital format.

I used to play with a drummer who used to race and slow, race and slow.
When challenged.......
He said 'I don't think that is possible to be honest, I've only had 8 pints, usually happens when I'm well into double figures. :?

Really? I'm curious as to why you would think that?

I will try with a second metronome running side by side. Perhaps even record it. It's very noticeable.

I have. When the sequencer gets bogged down, it can do that. Sometimes when I am trying to slave it w/ another midi clock, the initial starting of a sequence can cause it to 'hiccup'. Are you using the click in 'Standby Mode', or is there a sequence actually running?

hi Dan,

I load some EP, arm the sequencer (standby mode?), set the tempo, and play along with it like you would normaly do with a metronome. The tempo keeps changing, and it does that everytime.

Once, while recording overdubs, I got some serious slow down, but the playback was ok.

Now, just a click track (using drum set) I'm told by my drummer the tempo isn't steady.

No idea what's going on.

On the drop menu next to tempo, what are you setting it to? After arming the Rec. button (Standby Mode), highlight that drop down menu and select 'Rec'. See if that makes a difference. BTW, are you midi'd to anything?

Apologies Dniss, if my assumption was wrong.
Usually digital things either work or don't work at all.
Actually slowing and speeding up is unusual in my eyes.
I hope you got the problem solved

No need to apologize to me my friend.

I'd much rather have opinions, going my way or not, than nothing at all.

How about a defective power supply? Could variation in electrical current affect its stability? I understand being digital that it's not tied in to the power source per say, but regardless, something is going on.

Maybe like a computer, the data bus is getting choked up?

Dunno, but it's very annoying because I'm using it as click tracks for my band.

Haven't get the chance to look at it in the last few days but I will further my test very soon.

Any chance you've got a midi loop messing the timing up?

I have a sound module connected via midi. Is this what you mean?

But IFAIK it's not suppose to send anything back to the Kronos, should I investigate this further?

Hi,
I have just bought a new Kronos and I am having a similar issue.
I am using it with Cubase .
When the rythym track from the Kronos is playing a long side cubase I can hear a tiny "shudder" every few bars and it seems to slip out of sync with the metronome from cubase.
It is only tiny but definitely noticable.

Has anyone got any suggestions .?
Thanks.

Do you have set MIDI clock to USB or external to sync with Cubase?

Hi,
Yes , in the global midi menu set to usb.
And it is kind of in time !!! but just stutters a little when played with the cubase metronome.
