Hi guys,I'm a kronos user but was wondering about the kross 88's keybed. Is it good quality? It the same as the krome or does it come close to the kronos'?

Based on the price I would say the action and quality will be closer to the Krome.

yeah, I was kinda expecting that. tried that out in Paris some months ago, didn't quite like it, it feels as if the keys don't travel all the way down. is there any one who has played the 88 kross version to confirm this?

Since this thread is called "keybed" can anyone please comment who has tried the 61-key version of the Kross keybed? Thank you.

I am no expert re keybed but the Kross 61 seems similar to the one I played on the Krome 61 in the store.

functional, not stellar. but considering the price.....

I had the chance to play both a Kross and a Krome side by side for some time today. I would say that both are very similar but the Kross actually had a slightly better feel to me. Of course that could simply be due to the fact that the Kross is a bit newer and they are store demo models after all. The Krome did look a little beat up.

In any case, the Kross keybed is playable but not in the same class as the Kronos or M3. I was considering a Kross for the portability factor but was waiting to try out the keybed. It's feels good enough to me that it's still in the running.

PS. It does sound pretty good too.

What about the 88 version? (Kross) good keybed?

BaldEagle that was an excellent posting for someone like me who is very concerned about the Kross's "new" keybed but no units are in Canada yet to examine. Thanks for your side-be-side comparison.

I was only concerned about the keybed feel on the Kross 61 key.
Fortunately, it was a relief to read that someone on the forum here wrote the Kross 61 keybed felt better than the Krome.
Encouraging. I think he said that it felt "much" better.

I'm playing the tiny keys of my KORG MicroArranger now on top of my Nord Electro 4D . . . so just having regular size keys with an easier "dial up" system for sounds when playing "live" will be a big improvement.
The mod and pitch bend wheels on top are great too -
for keeping the footprint size equal to my bottom stack (the Nord 61 key) instrument.

I was playing around with the 88-key Kross at Sam Ash the other day. I figured at the low price for a light weight workstation, the key action would be subpar. I was wrong. I actually liked it! Its not as good as the Kronos, but definitely usable! Yes, the keys don't travel as far as the Kronos, but it had no effect on its playability. For me, the action was either a dealbreaker or a "go". Turns out it was a "go" for me

Are the keys on the Kross-61 really noisy when you play them?

The keybed is alright. One drawback for its keys is that they really won't depress on the those part where they are hinged (Yes, like the Krome video). About a centimeter scope on the uppermost part of each key. That includes the black keys as well. But nah, its playable. I see it would just take some adjustments to not play on those part of the keys, especially for me who's really used to playing on those parts.

I guess I like to take it as some training for some new style to not play on the upper key parts, so no big deal for me really.

And on my quote on david's reply, yeah the keys are really not noisy.

Overall, I'm really glad and excited to frequently use my unit. Thanks Korg!

Me happy I bought my Kross too. The keybed action for me too required getting used to it ... Now it's fine!
One of the tips re improving the keybed's response was from this very Kross Forum. And what a great tip it was. Namely, to dial down the velocity curve. This is, of course, for playing pianos, electric pianos, Obviously does not apply when playing organ sounds.
Range is 1 to 10. Normal default is 4, however, the sensitivity seems to greatly improve by going down to 3. Thanks for this great tip.
