Hi,
I've had a Kaossilator Pro+ for week and am a total newbie with the device. Just a moment ago I plugged a microphone to the mic input and had to crank both the trim and input level knobs all the way up to get the peak led even blink green while tapping the mic with a finger.
I'm using a Shure SM 57 and a regular balanced XLR -> TRS cable. After some googling I found out that the mic input is unbalanced so I cut the lead connecting to ring of the plug in case the problem was caused by phase cancellation but it didn't help.
The input selector is at mic position and a loud hiss is coming from the output but I really need to shout to trigger the vocoder.
Am I missing something or is the unit defective?

are you adjusting the program volume, the input volume, and the mic trim all in unison to adjust your signal? all three will affect yoru final volume...also make sure that your banks are turned up!

well it doesnt affect mic audio, but it affects how much of the vocoder sound you hear!
