MICROARRANGER - Tutorials
I have had the MICROARRANGER for four days now, and can understand the problems some people are having with the manual. I’ve found it useful to create tutorials for myself which go through all the procedures with pictures throughout, showing where each button is when it needs to be found.
In case it might be of use to someone on these boards, I’ve uploaded the first tutorial to Mediafire, where it can be downloaded as a PDF file.
This tutorial covers changing all eight of the instruments in a STYLE and then renaming it and saving it to a user PERFORMANCE location.
The link is below. When the page loads, if you don’t see the file, click on the DOWNLOAD tab, to be taken to the page which has the relevant file.
NB - There were errors in section 13 and 14 which are now corrected. The link below is to the updated version.
All best.

TUTORIAL 3:
I haven’t had time to finish the “Effects” tutorial yet, but here’s a tutorial for newbies (like me) which deals with recording a SONG using one of the Microarranger’s STYLES, playing it back and then saving it to an SD card.
As usual, I’ve attempted to make it foolproof, by illustrating the instructions every step of the way, and indicating within them, via the use of red arrows, where every button and parameter can be found as they are mentioned. I think that’s the single-most useful thing about these tutorials, as it’s a nightmare trying to locate all of these multi-functional buttons on the panel.
If you think it might be helpful to you, feel free to download it as a PDF using the link below:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/o3bkdgqs5 ... D_CARD.pdf
When the site loads, click on the DOWNLOAD tab to find the file.
I’ve proofread it quite thoroughly, but if you spot any errors, do let me know, and I’ll amend the file.
All best.

Re Tutorial
A well written tutorial a job Korg should do with all its keyboards new and old.
Maybe you would like to join my group on Facebook.

Re: Re Tutorial
Thankyou, NativeAngels. It would be difficult to do a worse job than Korg have done with their manual, and it's so hard to understand what their problem is. It seems mad to expend all that talent and technology on designing an instrument and then wreck the whole thing with indecipherable instructions. I find that organising these tutorials helps it all to sink in - and there's so much to get to grips with in the Microarranger.NativeAngels wrote:A well written tutorial a job Korg should do with all its keyboards new and old.

I will certainly join your Facebook group when I finally get around to opening an account. I'm working on an album right now which will be released early in the new year, and I don't want to re-open my MySpace and Facebook accounts until I've got something to promote.
I'd like to do more tutorials, though, to help me get my head around this rather complex bit of gear, so I will post them here incase anyone else finds them useful.
It's only my fifth day as a Microarranger owner and it's still a bit intimidating.
As is probably inevitable, I spotted three errors in the first tutorial.
They are in sections 13 and 14, and I've updated the PDF file to include the ammendments. It's at the top of the thread, and has "VERSION 2" as part of its name.
Incase you'd like to know what the errors were and what the correct information is:
Three references to "STYLE category" should instead read "Instrument (PROGRAM) category".
I'm now working my way through the effects sections and then want to move on to all of the MIDI functions. As I find it so useful for memorisation to write these tutorials, I'll continue to do them, and upload them incase it's helpful to others. (I'll proofread them more carefully from now on!)

Re tutorials
Some registrations would be nice also or performance.sets I've built some from single touch settings. Do you intend on creating your own styles also?
Re: Re tutorials
Yes, I do intend to create STYLES of my own. I've done that before with other boards, as most factory-made auto-accompaniments need a lot of work before they sound as if they're not auto-accompaniments.NativeAngels wrote:Some registrations would be nice also or performance.sets I've built some from single touch settings. One oddity about the Microarranger which I've noticed is that the fills are disproportionately loud, and I've no idea what that's about.
At the moment, though, I want to use the Microarranger to add some improvements to ten songs which already exist on my PC's sequencer, and so I'm particularly keen to get the effects and MIDI functions sorted out.
I've created a few PERFORMANCES, but I still haven't got to grips with most of the manual yet, though, so don't know about registrations yet.
Right now I'm halfway through the effects tutorial.

Re Micro Arranger
I own a Pa50sd which is identical all but in size and colour. I have had mine for 12 months or so now and am still finding out stuff on it.

Re MicroArranger
Even though the Pa50sd is not a current model by today's standards.
I have basically built up erformance from single touch settings of styles and then tweak them it's a bit long winded but works

I posted a tutorial for the PA80( which also applies to the micro arranger) that is over 1 hour long and covers most every aspect of the keyboard. Here is the link to the video once again in case you might have missed this one.

Re tutorial
I have seen the pa80 tutorial good though it is there is stuff that is missed from it.
I've uploaded a new tutorial file to the original post at the top of this thread.
I haven't finished the second tutorial yet, but this third one is already complete, so I thought I might as well upload it.
This really is a very difficult board to get familiar with, but writing these instructions really helps me to absorb it all.
If anyone here is as green as me, this might be helpful for you.

Thanks for this, csteen. I've watched half of it so far, and it's all a very helpful addition to the learning process. I'm not sure about the description of the board as being "easy to use" though. That doesn't seem to be the universal experience of its users, at any rate.csteen wrote:I posted a tutorial for the PA80( which also applies to the micro arranger) that is over 1 hour long and covers most every aspect of the keyboard. Re Tutorial
Thanks for another good tutorial.
Re: Re Tutorial
Thanks, NativeAngels. I get the impression that you're beyond such simple tutorials yourself.NativeAngels wrote:Thanks for another good tutorial.
This is the sort of idiot-proof tutorial that I need.
If I'm to make a decent meal, I need a recipe that includes instructions such as "Pick up spoon".
I don't make tutorials for things like that, though; I just buy microwave meals and have done with it.
