I really want an SV-1. However, given that it was released in 2009, I'm wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the likelihood of an SV-2 eventually being released? And, does Korg only do releases in conjuction with NAMM (i.e. NAMM 2014 is coming in January)? Thank you for any insight you may have!

An SV-1 is cheap these days, and a new model will certainly be more expensive unless they go to a lesser keybed. See if you really love the RH3 action first. I personally won't give up mine if they come out with an SV-2, just because it has everything I need and it feels/sounds great to me, even compared to my Kronos. The EPs I have not heard better on anything else.

0) i paid $1900 +tax (3 years ago)
1) in the last 18 months i have seen 1 SV-1 selling on craigslist (it sold for $1400 in 6 days... thought that was too much to pay at the time)
2) when bidding for a backup SV-1 on Ebay the price got to $1150 before i gave up.

i don't think "cheap" exists for SV-1 yet.

yep totally agree... somewhere between piano/e.piano action i really enjoy working with; wouldn't mind a bit more snap on the bounce-back, but i can work with what's there so it's not a big deal.

I'm not sure about the likeliness. To me it seems Korg is a company that develops further incarnations of instruments when they're succesful, and I think it's safe to say the SV-1 is pretty succesful. But on the other hand, the SV-1 is already quite a complete board, and there's not much more to be improved, except things such as the distortion model and the keybed. Of course, there are other things that could be improved greatly, but this would make it more expensive. One thing I saw a while back on a Nord board was pretty awesome; being able to assign the expression pedal to practically any parameter you want. For example, being able to drive up the distortion, or the speed of your phaser/flanger/tremolo, or pushing up certain parts of the equalizer with the expression pedal... I'm not missing it now, but I would love it if it's there. The same with organ drawbars. I know the SV-1 is mostly focussed around E.piano's, normal piano's and such, and that there are dedicated organ boards out there like the Hammond SK-1. But with a couple of improvements on the amp model, inclusion of drawbars, and a more smooth slope when controlling effects would make this sexy board even sweeter to play. My apologies if this belongs more in the "SV-2 Wish list" thread rather than this one.

But I guess that if I want huge control over all sorts of parameters, I should get me a Korg Kronos or something.

The SV-1 is a product of Korg's Italian subsidiary - which normally makes the Arranger keyboards (Pa series).
To me, it has the feel of a personal project from one of the Italian team that somehow got the greenlight from Japan.

So it's something of an anomaly in their professional keyboards range. Whether that makes it more or less likely to get an update is impossible to say. I guess that depends totally on whether they made (much) money out of selling it.
