Why is such a simple function, so hard to figure out? I have the 61 key, and deep low octaves are desired. Can you please guide me to the right direction.

Are you trying to switch programs? combis?

If you go the GLOBAL screen, the first section of the first page ("Basic") has a "Key Transpose" parameter. To lower an octave, set it to -12.

It's not the only way, or necessarily the best way, but without setting anything up, it's the quickest, simplest and most universal way.

Are you trying to do octave changes while playing live? I've used 61 nkey keyboards for piano in the past and had to get used to using the transpose button a LOT!
I have a 73 key Kronos and I use SW1 and 2 for piano.

I just want the to be able to change octaves on a combi/setlist/program, (basically) any sound... I want to be able to play a lower bass in the middle of of the 61 keybed..Or a high pitched octave range in the middle of the keybed..

Can you help me out?

The method I described works on any sound at any time. Other methods, referred to in the threads I linked to, let you set up particular controllers to instantly shift a given program/combi, but you have to set up each one you want in advance.

SW1 and SW2 can be easily programmed as octave up and down. I only play in Combi's or Seq modes from the setlist. Since I can adjust the pitch of any zone in the those modes there is not much need fro me to have transpose. I do have several sounds I use generically and those may sometimes need octave changes. So those sounds have the SW1 & SW2 setup for that purpose.

The other way is as previously stated where you have to enter the Global mode. That is nice for auditioning sounds but for live you need to program the Switches.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Octave up/down switch assignment doesn't change the pitch of the oscillatorn. It changes the MIDI note numbers that the keyboard is sending. So it you have a combi set up, it doesn't lower the pitches, it shifts all of your splits up or down.

Good point, that's bitten me on transpose. You have a song set up with the splits you need, singer wants to change the key, you transpose, and now the splits aren't in the right place anymore. I can't think of any musical reason someone would want it to work that way. Yamaha MOX has the same problem. Works right on the Kurzweils, though. (I think Nord and Roland, too.)
