playing external and internal sounds together in multimode
I can use multimode to play an external soundmodule on the matching midichannel. I can also use multimode to use internal, sounds. But I cannot combine internal and external sounds in different zones (split) in one multi, using the X50 as a masterkeyboard. I tried to change the track channels, to change the control channel, to change the global settings ... but I don't find a solution to make one multi with lefthand-control of an external soundmodule and righthand-control of internal sounds. Does anyone know how to solve this problem ? Thanks !

I don't have an X-50, but judging from other Korgs I know I would say set the timbres you want to play from the X-50 to "int" And midi channel 1 (or if you've changed the global midi channel, to whatever you changed it to), set the timbres you want to play on our external device to "ext" or "ext2" and set the channel accordingly. Set the keyzones for the x-50 sounds on the x-50 and the other ones on the external sound generator. Is this not working for you? Where is it going wrong?
Thanks for your help, but ... I tried all this and it isn't working. I can make a multi to play the external soundmodule without any problem, and of course I can make a multi to play internal sounds too. I know how to make split zones, set the appropriate midichannels, switch int / ext, set 'for master' in global mode, ... But making one multi to play both internal and external sounds seems not to be possible ... Very frustrating.

So you're saying you can't set int/ext per timbre in multi mode?
It's a shame the X-50 doesn't have full combination mode like all the bigger Korg synths. Does the X-50 not send out midi at all when you're using internal sounds? That would be surprising. Perhaps it would be possible with some muting and channel flipping on your external module?
