I bought this keyboard about a year ago from a fellow ( pro musician)selling it on ebay.
Got it for a very good price and was delighted with the pristine condition it was (is) in. Thing is: I am having problems with using it to it's fullest capacity as I don't seem to have the instruction manual anymore - the floppy disc thing plus the keyboard buttons are a mystery to me.
Yes, as you can surmise, I am a total newbie to this keyboard - my old one being a Panasonic non pro job (bought for an ex g/f who ended up giving it back to me. I still have it, and very occasionally use it.)
Anyway, bearing in mind my total ignorance of this keyboard, could someone suggest how to use this floppy drive and what it can do - I was given 2 discs with the instrument but don't want to risk using them until I know what I'm doing.

To get stuck in, you need to read the Basic Guide first. You can follow it with the Parameter Guide and Effects Guides where necessary. The Solo-Tri manual will also be useful to you as you have a Trinity Plus (which includes the Korg Prophecy synthesis engine!).

You have a wonderful keyboard. I bought the Prophesy card and installed it myself. It has some wonderful pads and the synths are killer and expressive. The Wurly and Rhodes sounds are very good. I like the strings and horns. There are limitations with the lack of General MIDI and lack of programmable controller functions. But, it makes up for it with some really cool sounds.....

Most KORG guys can talk you through just about any problem you would have with it. You do need to program all of your sounds in the Combis. Even the single Program should be done in a Combi. You should start with one Combi that you can set up all of your controllers and copy that to other locations as a template Combi. Basically, you would have the same Combi copied in several locations and just change the Program number to the one you want and save. It saves a lot of time reprogramming controller settings. You must get a KORG EXP-2 pedal. The power of the Combis will come with the ability to bring sounds in and out(ex.:Piano and Strings / Piano and Organ.) You can control the expression of your secondary sound with the controller like a volume pedal. You can assign the Rotary Speaker effect to switch speeds from a switch pedal, too. With 8 zones, it is a strong board..... You can use the keypad lock and switch from one sound to another with just one number punch.
