Are you using the USB driver from the installation DVD or have you downloaded the latest from Korg's website?

Cheers and good luck!

Thank you for your reply. I downloaded the newest driver form Korg. I am currently using acid studio from Sony. Can you recommend a good not to high price midi editor. Ive downloaded sonar didn't run well at all Timing was all off. I noticed in the Korg driver config you can use 32 or 64 bit. I guess that has to do with what OS your using. I'm using. windows 8.1 64 bit.

It also has to do with the DAW/sequencer you're using. If you're using a 64-bit OS and a 64-bit DAW then you'll definitely want to use 64-bit drivers.

I'm assuming when you say MIDI editor that you're referring to a sequencer or digital audio workstation (DAW) such as Sonar or Acid. I've used Sonar, Cakewalk, Cubase and Fruity Loops for Windows but it's honestly been so long I don't know which to recommend any longer (I switched to Mac and Logic Pro several years ago).

You may want to check Sonar's forums and/or technical support to see if there may be some setting- i.e. buffer size, latency, etc.- which may correct your issue. Usually a buffer size increase will address timing issues but there may be other options such as using ASIO drivers, etc. I believe Roland own Cakewalk/Sonar now so it may be good to start with them.

Best of luck again!

Some words from a Sonar user ...

... you seem to have up to date PC hardware with multicore CPU. I am not familiar with Windows 8.x but use 7.x, which is reported to be a bit slower. My setup of Kronos and Sonar works pretty well.

There are two options to connect your Kronos to a PC, generally speaking.

1) Directly by using the USB cable (no extra hardware required)

Kronos driver support midi and audio. You have to check, what kind of audio is supported best in your setup and OS. Unfortunately Kronos drivers do not support ASIO. Hence you have to select one of those "WDM, WASAPI, or MME" audio drivers (at least on Win 7). I had latency issues using those and abondoned this approach - but don't take this as a recommendation.

2) Connecting via an external digital audio interface

Decent digital audio interfaces support ASIO drivers, which seem to be the ones with least latency issues. I use the Kronos midi driver to control the keyboard or to record midi from the kronos in Sonar. The audio is recorded or played back via my audio interface, which provides best performance for me.

How to setup your midi-editor/DAW is very specific. But typically there is allways a section in the preset area to select audio and midi drivers, specify their settings ... etc.

Just drop additional questions about Kronos and Sonar and I will try to help.

AFAIK Reaper from Cockos is not too expensive. I think it's about 60$ if you are a private person and entitled to purchase the "discounted version" ...
