Never gave much thought into wooden side panels until I saw what this man does to his synths. Now I want to this with mine. Definitely makes the synths look more appealing to me.

One of the really, really nasty things about the Kurzweil K2500 and K2600 synths is the endbells. They are thin plastic, poorly constructed, loose on the synth, and very prone to breakage. Probably the real low point of amazing-sounding synths. My 2500 came with the Sweetwater wood endcaps, and it makes it look like a completely different instrument -far better in my opinion - and a little more sturdy as well.

Not my cup of tea at all.
Wood just makes things look old. The KORG OASYS and the Pa3X both have very nice ends.

I've heard
end cheeks or
end caps before... but not end bells.
I guess that's permissible, since we're talking about musical instruments.

It depends on the synth,if your changing the side panels on a synth that already has wooden ones for another grade of wood or finish then it can enhance the look.
Most of the synths that don't have them already, just look plain horrible changing the panels for wood,I seen some guy customise a nord lead with wooden ends and it spoilt the look entirely ,but whatever floats your boat to customize your own gear.
It's like some of the forat MPC mods,it add some personalisation, but some designs are great and some are just plain s**t.
There's a guy in the uk who does some cool synth mods

My favourite is the Roland JP8080 which has been made to look Jupiter 8 ish

I like them but has to be good wood without nasty-looking varnish that's just been haphazardly slapped on.
I like the walnut embelishments of the Virus TI|2 series, for example, very sophisticated.
