Pianet N sound?

Post by the_winkler »

I'm doing some research into buying the SV-1.
As I'm in a Genesis cover band a good Pianet N sound is very important to me.
I've heard that the ElectroPno sounds like a Pianet T, but does the Euro EP on the Sound Pack 2 sound like the Pianet N?
By the description it seems so, but I'm not sure.

Thank you

if you take the Euro E.P. and adjust Touch to Soft1 (or set Fixed to 127), it's not bad... but not quite a Pianet N; too soft/rounded a tone imo.

Maybe one of the other Wurlie/Electra patches?

Most of the Clav patches are too aggressive for your needs but Sound Pack 2 has four soft clav patches (AC/BD/AD/BC) and Sound Pack 1 has the Muted Clav.

...still think the Euro E.P. is closer to where you wanna get.

Thanks for the response!
I'll keep that in mind... Still not sure what digital stage piano would better suit my needs.

If you haven't decided yet, go with the Nord Electro or Piano 2. I love my SV1, but Korg really dropped the ball in many areas; one major being no new samples; only few-and-far-between (or never again, which seems to be the case here) tweaks to old samples. I've been trying to get a darker more fundamental Rhodes tone... forget about it; every tweak i try just causes some level of distortion. ugh. At least with the Nord, if you don't like a sound, you have various SAMPLE sets to choose from for free, plus the promise of future sets. PLUS, they have a PIANET N, not just another sample weakly tweaked to resemble one!
KORG 01/W FD (my first pro board)
KORG NS5R
KORG SV1 88 (Red 73, Two tone 88, & Black 88)
KORG MicroArranger
.... But I'm not a Korg fan

The Pianet N sounds a lot like a Wurli. There are numerous songs from the 60s where I have seen people debate whether it's a Pianet or Wurli on the record, it's really hard to tell. The Pianet T sounds closer to a Rhodes, though.
