It's a midi interface, a cable won't do it.

They call it a cable because it's so small it's built into a cable.

I haven't had any experience with them, but I've talked to a lot of people who've had problems with them.

A modern computer shouldn't need any driver for it to work.

You plug it in then open cubase and you should have a new midi in and midi out.

If the thing works.

A usb interface is a more reliable choice, or an interface with midi I/O on it.

Maybe your cable works, check it out.

I would trust something like this:

There was no driver required with the interface i bought of ebay
The drivers are built into the interface and automatically install them selves once its contracted, mine works a treat and was very cheap

the interface receives midi, (i can see the light flicker), the device is shown in the device manager, but does not show up on cubase 5! help

That would be what I call up and NOT running.

If cubase doesn't see it then it's not working right or not setup right.

The cheap interfaces do this sort of thing, work but not quite.

Have you checked all the configuration settings in cubase?

It has a panel with all the midi devices on the system and you can choose to show or hide them. See if it's there maybe.
