I have a USB hub plugged into my computer. My Kronos's USB-B port and two midi controllers are plugged into that hub. One controller has a USB cable and the other has a Roland UM-ONE plugged into it and then the UM-ONE's USB cable goes into the hub. The USB-based controller is on channel 1 and the UM-ONE controller is on channel 10 because I use it to play drums on my computer with the program BFD.

Kronos Editor controls my Kronos as expected from the computer. In the editor, the Kronos's Global>MIDI Channel is set to 1.

The controller on channel 1 plays the Kronos as expected. But the controller set to channel 10 and that uses the UM-ONE also plays the same Kronos patch that the controller on channel 1 plays. It also plays the computer's drum software, whose MIDI log says it's only receiving stuff on channel 10 as expected. I assume, then, it's somehow being received on the Kronos's channel 1 even though it's set internally to channel 10. Kronos Editor's MIDI Out Port Activity window shows it's receiving that controller, but I don't see where it would display the channel. How do I keep the controller on channel 10 from playing the Kronos?

In the editor, I tried "MIDI>MIDI In Ports..." thinking I would simply disable the UM-ONE. But it won't let me unselect the UM-ONE separately from the other controller, I'm guessing because they're both on the same USB hub. Still, is there some way to prevent the controller that's on channel 10 (a drum controller) from playing the Kronos so that I can use the drum controller to play my computer's BFD drum software?

You say that you are using the Kronos editor, so I guess there is a DAW running on your computer too.

As a first analysis I would recommend to check again all of the equipment midi setups including the DAW. The USB hub should only receive and send what is given to it, but not change, copy, or transpose midi channels.

It could be that one of your units or the DAW get's midi from an other device on channel X and routes it through and out again as channel Y.

AFAIK, if the Kronos is playing a track or combi program unwanted at channel 10, which has been generated by an external device, you can restrict this program to "internal" midi and ignoring "external" directly at the mixer channel strips (see Operation Guide, page 10, and 66).

No, no DAW. And I need to play the Kronos with the other external controller that's on channel 1, but wouldn't restricting the program to internal prevent that?

Restricting the Kronos to Channel 1 internal determines outgoing control number. External channel setting would just turn off the Kronos engine as far as that track was concerned for Kronos' own (local) control? Your incoming midi from your controller would still send to the Kronos on channel one (if it's active), leaving the Kronos to decide whether to play that note - which it appears it is.

You can, I think, chose to filter out incoming midi by channel in the global/midi filter - that choice is global; all programs all the time. I don't know if it can be done on a case by case / per program basis.
