Editing / Saving MIDI Files

Post by Lee1984 »

Hi guys,

I'm new here so go easy with me.

I have recently purchased a Korg Triton Classic, I have recorded in a MIDI track from an external source using the SEQ program.

The track however required a little touching up (slight change of instrument, volume etc...). After doing so and going to DISK to save (I saved ALL and saved as standard MIDI file) the track in SEQ reverts back to the instruments and volume it started with.

I have tried everything I can think of, this is most frustrating as the main issue is it cannot recognise track 10 as a drum track and has for some reason got it defaulted to strings, I deleted all files and rerecorded the MIDI track back in using all the correct instruments and volumes, but upon playback it all defaults back to as it was.

How can I save changes to the MIDI file, it would appear that once it is in it stays like that despite what you do to alter it?

Probably the program changes and volume settings are embedded in the midi file. So basically, you made your settings the way you want them, then you play the file and the first thing it "plays" is program changes to change all the instruments back and volume settings to undo your mix changes. You can use the event editor in the track edit page to find these and delete them. Use the filters to make the editing a little easier on the eyes.
