looping capability

hi all,

i'm looking for a loop function inside the Kronos
meaning without having to buy an external looper

i've heard about the hold delay IFX, but this works only with 1 program
I would like to be able to use multiple programs with the same loop

that's too bad that Korg does not add a real looper mode
I am trying to understand the sample mode to simulate a looper, but I'm not sure that is a good path

do you have any idea ?

best regards

Ugly truth: Kronos sucks for pretty much any kind of real-time sound manipulation, looping included. The only big exception to this rule is Karma, but even that requires lots of ahead planning.

The only proper looping it has is based on MIDI and has clunky interfaces where you need to:
1. Select the tempo, enable looping and choose entry points ahead of time.
2. Record the track.
3. Stop, switch to a different track, choose the correct overdub mode.
4. Rince and repeat.

You can also set hold delay as global FX. Frankly, I was never successful at using that as a looper, because there is no undo or erase. If it was possible to map separate delay FX effects to the track buttons on the front panel... and make one set of buttons to control mutes, while the second row would control recording...

Totally agree with you Gambler: Korg needs to improve live looping. It's hard to measure the loop on Korg flagship even on Oasys and Kronos.

Sequencer mode has all the looping functionality I will ever need.

All Korg would have to do is allow for Multi-Record in Track Loop mode and it could be like a Tenori-on! Please, Korg. [-o<

I agree, I'm sure it would be easy to implement those kinds of features thanks the powerful CPU, big screen and available controls of the current Kronos
(I hope a Korg engineer won't kill me)

Karma is indeed a first step toward real time music, but hard to program your own pattern ...
and the sequencer looping functionality lacks of spontaneity

If you have an iPad you can add this functionality simply and cheaply.

What app do you use?

I use Loopy HD that is very good, connecting Kronos trough USB by camera connection kit .

I don't really, but that's the app I was referring to, based on Qui's videos.

I was really interested in other experiences because I couldn't find an app that let me work with MIDI loops... I haven't searched again recently and my info are based of some months ago...

It's pretty suck Looping mode on Korg Keyboard. Maybe Korg Kronos was made for Live and Studio only. Live is not need looping. Studio already has DAW for looping T_T

I've played Motif, Motif ES, XS, XF. They're live looping, and great. You can edit anything on the board. I can creat few Pattern, then merge them into one song. That's excellent for capturing song idea.
