Any way to recognize a refurbished or B stock Kronos X?

Howdy!
First let me thank everybody on this forum for all your amazing tips and knowledge. I wouldn't have enjoyed my Kronos 73 nearly as much without your help!
So here is the thing: I was offered a very good deal on a Kronos X61 from a local music store. My only concern is that it is such a good deal that I am wondering if the unit might be a refurbished one or a B stock unit.
Is there any way of knowing for sure if a Kronos has had a previous owner?
Anything that I should look at or signs that I should pay attention to?
Thanks a lot!

Isn't there like some plastic protection layer covering the touch screen, when you buy a new Kronos?
It's been a while since I bought my Kronos, so I don't really remember.
But if the protection layer is removed, then it's most likely not a new one.

Thanks a lot for your replies and your tips!
GregC: I did Yelp them and everybody seems to love these guys. Then I called them again and the salesperson on the phone assured me the unit is new, not refurbished, nor B stock, no bull.
I will only know the serial number when the unit arrives. We'll see.
I remember my refurbished Kronos 73 was factory sealed when it arrived from Guitar Center.
And Yuma, my Kronos 73 never had a protective layer covering the touchscreen, but it was a refurbished unit.

any store employee can re-tape the carton to make it ' look like ' factory sealed. obviously their rep is on the line, if the unit was refurbed , then presented as A stock factory sealed.
anyway, ' when the unit arrives ', you say. You did not see it ?

Hi Greg,
No I didn't see the unit. Ordered on the phone. They are mostly an Internet store. But this deal I got on the phone from one of their salespeople.
If I have any doubts, I have 30 days to return the item anyhow.

A fresh out of the box unit will be wrapped in a sheet of styrofoam, have a piece of paper with care instructions over the screen using a translucent blue tape and K88's and K73's will have 3 cardboard spacers taped at the bottom of the keys. Once the tape is removed they curl up and its quite easy to tell if they've been reused. Should include a quick start guide and rescue dvd sealed in a clear plastic bag. Distributors open the box to put their own country's power cable before sending them off to their dealers.

if you manage to get the serial, you can probably call Korg and ask them

My X61 was opened, updated, and tested by Sweetwater before shipping. Didn't have any scratches on it whatsoever. Scratches and finger prints usually can tell its journey.

Most reputable dealers will declare units as being pre-owned,or B stock etc.
The suggestion for contacting Korg for further information is a good one, they will have some record of its history.
Tell us more about the good deal, please.(Just curious).
Best Wishes.

that would make sense, to open a factory sealed unit. I would 100% trust SW to do an OS upgrade, install more ram, the 2nd SSD. Having that work done by a skilled service, is a big plus for a customer.

That's what I paid for mine last November... $2100 - And to top it off I got the $250 Korg rebate that they were offering for a few months - so at the end of the day my cost was $1850. And it was definitely brand new A stock. I wouldn't be worried about it, be happy you didn't have to pay what some places are asking

US vs UK Kronos price

In the UK the Kronos X 61 retails for around £2800 which at the current exchange rate of $1.65 to the £1 equates to $4620!!!!!
Even allowing for the occasional small discount it still works out at over $4000!!!
