[UPDATE] Padkontrol Issue with (DIN) MIDI Out

Post by K6CTX »

Update
I had a chance to test another unit and I am having the exact same problem. I checked all my cables again just to be sure and they are not the source of the problem.

I have had my Padkontrol for a number of years and it has always worked fine via USB. However, I recently redesigned my setup and in an attempt to improve workflow with regard to hardware sound modules, I am using the DIN MIDI out of my Padkontrol to interface with my MOTU MIDI Express 128, the outputs of the MOTU are connected to various synths and drum machines. The problem I am having is that the MOTU is regularly lighting up without me even using the Padkontrol, showing that it is receiving MIDI. The light isn't constantly on, but rather blinking at a regular rate. Ignoring this and trying to use the Padkontrol anyway has been fruitless, no MIDI data is reaching either my computer or the hardware connected to the outputs of the MOTU.

I have done some troubleshooting and found that the MIDI cable is fine, as well as the port on the MOTU that the Padkontrol is connected to. I used my MIDI keyboard controller to check both of these potential problems and things worked flawlessly.
