iPolySix Audio Becomes Distorted/Clips

I am using an iPad 3 model MC705LL/A with iOS 7.1.1 on the Akai Synth Station 49

Every now and then the audio will distort and become extremely loud. The ipad is docked on the midi controller, which sends the left and right outputs to my USB interface on my laptop. It sucks having this happen with my monitors on.

I have turned background audio off and used both latency settings and have had this occur. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
