EG mapping - parameter value to actual time

Post by timg11 »

The Kronos provides this information in the parameter guide:

Code: Select all

EG Value Actual Time
00 0.667 ms
10 10 ms
20 44 ms
30 104 ms
40 224 ms
50 464 ms
60 944 ms
70 1.8 seconds
80 3.8 seconds
90 10.9 seconds
99 87.3 seconds
Unfortunately, in the Triton ST parameter guide, the only information provided is similar to this:

Code: Select all

Attack (Attack Time) [00…99] Specifies the time over which the level will change from note-on until the attack level is reached.
There is no relation from value to actual time.
Since the mapping is non-linear, it is necessary to specify the breakpoints and increments in each range of values.

Has anybody ever worked this out? It is quite time consuming to analyze by recording snips of sounds, varying the parameters, and measuring in a waveform editor, so if anyone already has the information I would be delighted if you would share!

Thanks!

I went ahead and made the measurements.
Above value 10, the Triton and Kronos ranges are very close - within the measurement precision.

The TS seems to have tight time resolution in the short attack values. Zero is really zero. I have not done the corresponding tests on the Kronos to verify that the fastest rate is .667mS
I'll just believe the published values.

Code: Select all

99	87 sec
95 28.8 sec
90	10 sec
80 4 sec
70 1.9 sec
60 965 mS
50 509mS
40 250mS
30 137mS
20 71mS
15 56mS
10 11mS
8 5mS
7 3mS
5 1mS
3 0.25mS
1 0ms
