Hi friends

I am about to "redesign" / "rethink" my small studio at home.

My question:-

"Paas" speaker system - is this seriously OK? It seems expensive but I wondered if it was in fact worth having (despite cost)?

Ok if to be used as a monitor in a not too loud environment.

In home situation with Mic and VH and the fact that this unit faces the mic, you get a lot of unwanted feedback etc.,,, hence best operation would be at low to moderate volume settings.. Does work ok (with some feedback) at max volume however Waves settings must be flat or below rather than boosted.

As the only source of speaker sound, its quiet decent, clear and has some bass too but could be genuinely enhanced as I do hook up my active sub woofer to the audio out as the highs can be loud enough to kinda drown the lows.

a friend of mine has one and I must say that I had a positive feedback listening to it. I was concerned having the speakers so close to me (I'm not really used to) so I was especting too much mid/hi in my face that I particularly don't like. Instead I found a good diffused bass range, a good stereo image (possibly not so difficult to get considered the position) and the mid/hi range well balanced not introducing fatigue during the listening (hope you get me).

I did not made any direct comparison with other speakers fyg since it was impossible to do in the given situation, it was a "one go" trial using onboard styles and without any tweaking using the Waves processor, just standard settings ...

I had one but sent it back after a couple days. The sound quality is really bad. It really doesn't do justice to the brilliant Pa3x! The sound is very tinny. I wouldn't buy it ever. I've got a Grundig Midi system with a couple of Panasonic speakers and I get a very fulfilling quality sound from this setup. Circa £400 is very excessive for this paas system. My recommendation as a previous owner of this unit would be a NO don't buy it.

When looking at the cost factor... I agree with MuratE you would get better sounding equipment for like price or bit more. not to mention more versatility.... but for wireless option with OK sound where money is no issue then the PAAS would work

Spend the money on some monitor's, I have this speaker bar gathering dust now and again dose not justify the price here compared to the equivalent cost of some monitor's , even a cost friendly tannoy reveals sound better than the speaker bar! And stupendous through my SE150 eggs monitors.

I think it sounds great and I couldn't fault the sound quality at all.

It's only down side to me is the price. For what they cost you could buy a more powerful pair of Studio minors, but then you have to plug them in, power them and run audio cables to them.

So for me the Paas is simply great sounding without any fuss at all. Great sound, no wires, but expensive.

Well, enough replies there to put a guy in a quandary. Same ol' answer though, Pete, trust only your own ears. Can you get a PAAS on a 30-day trial in your neck of the woods?

I like this Paas too, but not sure how does it sounds like?
Does it comparable with Yamha HS80M or KRK Rockit 6" G2 ?

Question: You write, "I do hook up my active sub woofer to the audio out as the highs can be loud enough to kinda drown the lows." I take it that you are referring to Left and Right Audio Out jacks and not Audio Out 1 and 2 ?

the PAAS is a must have when creating styles. I wish some sound systems would be clear sounding as the PAAS and is great when creating and auditioning the styles.

That's a bummer, Pete . I guess we're lucky here, most of our main dealers have a '30-day no questions asked' return policy.

Hi guys... The other day, I've been freaking out about get me two bose systems, this is very expensive.. But I wanna ask if some of you have listened.. It's the Bose L1.. I really want this for multiple purpose.. Because I play also with a band in an auditorium, to use it for monitoring to play live, to play in small places with the pa3x, and for my own studio.. Thinking to save mixers, in ear system, Speakers for the audience, connections, the hard work of loading equipment, etc.. But I think that I will need two of them for the stereo effects.. So this is going to be expensive.. But if some body knows, or someone has heard them in action, would appreciate any comments, thanks..

Pete... My advice would be, for home studio use, your money is FAR better spent on the best nearfields you can afford. The PAAS is a one trick pony, but good nearfields can also double as great studio monitors (in fact, if you have a studio at home, I'm surprised that you even ask the question!).

PAAS is anything but flat... it's very flattering to the PA3X, but that isn't what you are after in the studio. You want flat, or you are setting yourself up for mixing problems down the line.

I use a pair of Mackie HR824's at home, they sound amazing (but not hyped), and I am never surprised on the gig by a style or sequence I have edited at home sounding 'wrong' through a PA.
