Hello,
I'm thinking of buying a portable PA system to use with my keyboard.
Have looked at the Behringer EPA series and Yamaha Stagepas series and also Peavey Escort.
The Behringer series looks good on paper but has has some poor reviews. The Stagepas I'm sure will be up to Yamaha's high standard, and the Peavey I have no experience of.
Wondered if anyone has any experience of any of these that might influence my decision.
Thanks,
Derek B.

I tried the Stage Pas a few years ago and took it back after one job.
I did like the Escort quite a lot. That's just my personal experience, and both systems have long since left my setup.
As I recall I hated the effects on the Stage Pas. Everything else was pretty good. They may have changed that by now.

Hi Derek,
I've been using the Bose L1 Compact for a few years now with my PA-3X and it's just worked great for me. It covers well for audiences up to 100. I've used mine for many gigs and it's never failed. The other benefit is it's light weight and easy to set up.

Hi Derek:

Withouth any doubt, Bose L1 is the right choice.-
Sounds great: deep bass reponse and cristal clear on mid & high freq.
Simply to install: no more than 50 scnds, and go on.-
Really light weight.-
It's the best invest for your money.-
I sugest you, go your musical instruments dealer and test it.-
With regards.

I have 4 PA system.

Whenever i need to play outside I teak:

-PASS Korg Pa3x devoted PA system, when minimum volume is required; very satisfied with it; so easy to carry.

-Yamaha Stagepass 300, that has excellent sound quality and sound setting features (including basic voice effect), perfect stereo panorama, the nice facility to have the ampli/mixer incorporated in one of the two speakers; I also purchased Yamaha trolley made for Stagepas, that make really easy to carry.

Of course, personal taste makes big difference.

I would suggest you to test MANY different sets. (but always with the same keyboard). It's the best way to find YOUR Pa system.

Ciao :D :D :D

I would suggest this alternative, i have this or had this:

* Dynacord am 12 - perfect monitor.
* ElectroVoice ZX5a with EV SBA760 subs
* Dynacord Corus-Evolution
* ElectroVoice ETX serie

The ElectroVoice ZX5A can play without subs for smaller events. They are bombastic.

this have great acoustic sound.

Whatever brand you select make sure you can actually output L&R stereo.

You did not specify what situations you want this amplification system to cover. There are many fairly lightwieght and small units that can be used nicely for home studio and up to 200 person halls.

Love my Lucas Nano 300 system. You can run true stereo with one unit. I have two units. Just in case I should need more power and to always have a backup in place should one fail.
I've played up to 150 people with no problem at all.

Yep... asking advice on a PA system, and then NOT telling us how many people or size venue it needs to cover, or what age your audience tends to be and what type of music you mostly play will almost definitely get you a wide range of possible answers, some of which may be very wrong for YOUR needs..!

Players playing quiet background music in a quiet restaurant have utterly different PA needs to someone playing rock and R&B in a noisy club to 20-30 year olds.

Also speed of set-up or low profile visually are factors we need to know. Most everyone will ALWAYS recommend what they are personally using right now, with little regard to YOUR needs unless you point out what those needs are...
