Hi!

This remix is entirely made on the KORG Electribe MX; probably my favorite electronic instrument in many years now.
Most of the sounds are custom patches programmed from scratch, the rest is highly processed in the box. The song consists of 17 patterns.

What you're listening to, was recorded straight from the line-out of the EMX into the macbook pro built-in soundcard, using Audacity, without any external hardware nor processing; not even software audio normalization nor compression.

Enjoy! ;-)

Great tune, great sound! Thank you for sharing. Did you record the piano parts using the Tribe's step knobs or with an external MIDI keyboard ?

Thanks Tom 62,

No external keyboard; I did record most of the parts live (wherever I could), and fixed them through the step-edit

Nice track indeed. I Don't know the original tune but still, nice one. Good composition.
I have nice setup of various HW synths (rack & desktop) but I agree with you that EMX is definitely my favorite one. Incredible value for money and tons of fun & things to explore for years...

cheers, Johnny

ps. I have your old ESX ;)

Hei Johnny, nice to hear you're the one who got my ex-ESX! :D how is it doing!? Sometimes I have been thinking of buying it back...I guess I'll wait to try out the new electribe sampler first...anyway I already decided I will collect them all; they are just too much fun and so user-friendly.
By the way, here is the link to the original tune: http://youtu.be/XIVRY2VRxuY?t=6m49s it starts at 6'.49"

Cheers!

To be honest, haven't work with ESX that much.

First of all when I started to search ESX on second hand I accidentally came across EMX with ridiculous cheap price and I bought it also.
I felt love. Its a beast. 99% of stuff I have been rocking with it.

Secondly, I have been moving with my setup to point where I don't need to use computer anymore. That's why I bought ESX cos I love working on samples (I have backgrounds on trackers/demoscene).
Well, although, I got really disappointment when I realized that if you try to sample with ESX Line-In, the A/D converter is really bad, and it kills your sounds. It eats all the bottom frequencies so it came quite useless.

Anyhow I just recently got Yamaha DX200 (really, really lovely synthetiser) and because there is so much hidden features which are only accessible via computer editor, I need to get my computer from dust and put it back on running.
So to get double benefit I think I start to sample my synths with computer and create ESX sample banks. Cos I noticed that when you're transforming samples with computer directly to card, the sound stays quite untouch and lower frequences are ok.
So slowly, sooner or later, I will get it up and runnig with full of samples I like :).

Sorry for lil bit stealing/offtopic and mayby messed up english. I have my morning dizzyness. :)

cheers, Johnny

Same here. I never used my ESX (which I sold recently) as sampler in the usual sense. Only as sample player for computer processed samples. However, audio/sampling quality seems no longer a problem with the new Tribe. But I fear the lot of limitations on the sequencer side.

How you can say so when whole machine hasn't even released yet. New electribe is quite cheap which means that it wouldn't surprise me if A/D converter will be shitty as ESX has.

Of course it is pure speculation, but: There are 12 years between both machines. Todays low cost ADCs are much better than the low cost ADCs of 2003 ;-) The new Electribe has a better audio quality than the EMX and a much lower noisefloor. So why not the Electribe Sampler?

Dude, I can't believe you did a Barry Leitch cover! Amazing rendition.. Not only compelling as an alternate version, but a good track on the EMX as well. You managed to recreate a classic "Jarre-esque" vibe and break free from the usual flavor of so many EMX tracks. Cheers.
