Hi,

I'm trying to connect my Nord stage 2 as the lower keyboard and on top my Kronos 61.

I took midi out from the Nord to midi in on Kronos and midi out to midi in on the Nord.

So, I wanna be able to use the ribbon on the Kronos on some of the synth pads while I'm using it as a layer while im playing the piano on my Nord..

Have anyone of you any experience connecting these specific keyboards together, or a similuer setup? :)

Appreciate all the help, thanks!

Next quastion:

Now when I sending some of the sounds down to the Nord I can't use the ribbon effect anymore on does sounds?

I wanna be able while I'm playing a layer on the Nord with some of the sounds from the Kronos still be able to use the ribbon as a filter sweep under the piano sound for instance.. Is that possible? :)

I use both these keyboards in the way you want to. You will need to use the Kronos in Combi mode and assign the program to the desired MIDI channel. On your stage use the extern section and match the MIDI channel with that on the Kronos.

Ok great!

So I have created a combi and are now sending the two sounds on midi ch 14 to slot A external section and that works, but would like to use the ribbon effect on these now but It doesn't work? I see the that the midi indicator on the stage response when I touch the ribbon on the Kronos but no effect to the sound?

Also, what are your midi settings on your stage?

Thx!

The combi on the Kronos does not import effects and controller settings automatically so you will have to do that and it should then work.

If you want to use the ribbon with only one of the sounds use the MIDI filter on the Kronos.

I did that, I took "copy from program" and it works fine in the combi on the Kronos when I play it there, but as soonest I change the midi channel and play it on the stage the ribbon effect don't work..?

Typically, the Kronos's controllers will send on the Global MIDI channel. But, you can use KARMA to route the ribbon controller specifically to MIDI channel 14 and turn off anything else you don't want.

See this post: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 193#584193

You will need to change the instructions for the Ribbon Controller and your selected MIDI channel.

Are you sure the Nord actually responds to the ribbon CC#? Have you assigned any parameters to it?

I'm not sure he wants the Nord to respond to the ribbon, Sander. I thought he wanted only the Kronos pads to respond to the ribbon whilst playing the Nord as a the controller. Honestly, I'm not really sure what is wanted. Apart from the language barrier, I think there may be a misunderstanding about how MIDI works.

Let's see if I understand the setup. Please confirm if this is correct, miketime:

1. The Nord is set to play a piano program.

2. The Kronos is set to play pads.

3. The Nord's keyboard will play both the Piano and the Kronos pads in a MIDI layer or stack.

4. The Kronos's pads need to respond to the Kronos's Ribbon Controller.

Is that correct, miketime?

I will also need information about the Global MIDI channels for both the Kronos & Nord. In other words, what MIDI channel is the Nord sending MIDI data on? (Is it channel 14?)

Right, I misread because of the whole "sending sounds" deal, and the ribbon being received by the Nord. There seems to be some confusion there yes.
