Xlr Outputs jack outputs volume problem

Ok fellow sv 1ians,

So my Xlr outputs stopped working, well not quite, one side worked, the other had a drastically reduced level. Seen others on this forum with similar issues and invariably most just put up with it and use the jack outs instead.

Well that's what I did until my jack outs started playing up.....exactly the same thing, one level ok, the other a fraction of what it should be, so it was time to see my repair man.

Not quite......here's a work round that worked for me till I had no gigs for a few days to give to repairman.

If your jacks have different volumes.....firstly, TURN DOWN COMPLETELY ON YOUR MIXER TAKE OUT ANY HEADPHONES...can't stress that enough because the fix is to select a sound that uses the amp sim and turn the amp sim volume to full and the dodgy channel kicks in straight away....do not try that with a volume up on an amp or headphones, it's going to hurt....and that is problem solved. I used that technique a dozen times at least so if it happens to you, there's one remedy that may just work.

Ok, that didn't work for the Xlr outputs so put in to repair. Turns out, the capacitors to the xlrs were 'swollen' at the top end. Repair guy said he'd never seen anything like this before but was probably from new like this so maybe a faulty batch Korg were putting in. He didn't like the look of them so changed them and, voila, I now have my Xlr outputs back.

Playing tomorrow night and will check all is back to normal and if this has also remedied my jack outputs. Will post results Saturday.

If all is good hopefully this will help someone else one day or maybe give any of you a heads for a repair if suffering the same.
