Hi All,

Need some advice.

As PROFESSIONAL song-writers, how have you set up your company?

How have you formalised your agreement?

eg - writing duo:

everything is 50:50.
There's a company name.
The address and contact details can be one of the writers' addresses?

OR do you set up a specific company (in the uk, for example, through companies house) - with a name, and PO box etc?

Or am I making this too complicated?

Well I'm not a pro song writer I do however read up on some of that stuff although it can be pretty complicated legal stuff and sort.

Here in the netherland Artist have their agreement on their work mostly on their own label and also formalized it at Buma Stemra an organisation which handle their affairs with their work.

Its always wise to be well informed and have someone keeping track.

Even pro songwriters don't much know about legal issues. They aren't lawyers. You need a lawyer.
