Power down...memory gone

Just started. Turn off keyboard and turn back on, everthing has initialized.

If it is happening (data loss) at every power down, then yes it is serious but should not be completely irreparable. The most common reason for it is that the battery backing up your volatile data is dead, dying, or disconnected somehow.
All of those are addressable with a service call. Myself, I avoid sticking my dirty hands inside my keyboards, but if you are adventurous (and clean and static free) you may Want to attempt a battery change yourself.
Location and part number? Have to check with someone who has a service manual.
If the battery change doesn't fix the problem then someone equipped to run a diagnostic (korg approved service) may be required.

Replacing the battery in the M3 can be done easily by the user. It is documented in the Operations Guide. The battery part number is listed as CR2032 and manufactured by Sony or Panasonic.
But according to the Operation Guide you should get a message when the battery is low.
