Which of both is the best hammond emulator?

That's an invitation to an endless debate if I ever saw one :)
Don't neglect the Nord, Hammond and Crumar alternatives if you're seriously considering getting one.

Another consideration of course is whether or not you want a pure Hammond Emulator (which might have the edge) or an excellent all round Workstation, which has a very good Hammond emulator amongst its 9 sound engines.

A friend asked me to play some hammond parts on a CD of his. I can borrow a VK7 from another friend or use the Kronos. So for me it's a real dilemma and I really am interested to know if anyone has done some comparing. I can't seem to find a comparison video on Youtube

It's matter of taste. They will both do a fine job. But I think the cx3 is a very detailed organ clone. The biggest issue for me is the leslie simulation (even with the recent leslie update). Cx3 can sound as good as anything out there as long as you run it through a ventilator pedal. The reason I say this is because the internal leslie is also a matter of taste. I like the internal leslie on my stage 2 and hammond sk2 more than on the korg kronos and the vk7. The vk7 has a nice overdrive sound if you're recording rock stuff.
I say seriously consider trying a ventilator pedal, it will give you a nice wide realistic stereo image for your recording.
Sometimes having an option for the studio is nice.
Another question you should ask is. Which action feels better to you? I find it hard to play organ on my wieghted action kronos. Some people get used to playing organ on a wieghted action. I say if you're used to it then stick with it.

In this case it's more about what sounds better in the song than what is the most realistic option. Debating which one is a more accurate clone is kinda useless.

As, I believe, every true Hammond B3 is actually different in some regard then it does come back to experimenting with your options and choosing the one that suits you most.

I love my Kronos "CX3" particularly using the ksounds Organimation configurations (well valued $40 worth IMHO).
Also I love my Roland VR09 which I have played (and recorded) next to my friend's Nord Stage 2 for 2 weeks (borrowed it whilst he was away) and I actually prefer the Leslie emulation on the Roland plus I could find very little difference in the sounds (massive difference in price though!!).

Haven't actually played the VK7 but I am sure it is superb if up to Roland's normal standards.
If you have the time - go check out the Kronos, Nord, VK7, VR09 and go prepared with particular drawbar/harmonic percussion/chorus/reverb settings you like then try those on each.

Cheers
