Possibilities with iPad......

Hi all!

I was curious as to what would happen if I connected my iPad directly to the Kronos via the lightning to USB A connector

I received a message on my iPad ..."Trust this computer?"
I started typing on my iPad .... Guess what?
Nothing happened! :-(

Imagine the possibilities for control, editing etc....I'm sure someone will explore this further :-)

Stop dreaming and buy a Windows Tablet
All joking aside, what's lots of fun is using the KRONOS with a Leap Motion controller.

I recorded this a year ago, but it's evolved greatly since then so I'm able to do much more now.

It works the other way around, with the iPad as host. You can send audio and midi back and forth easily and there are a lot of useful apps for this purpose, from softsynths to setlist/preset managers and sequencers.

Lol!
That's a very very interesting implementation!
Thanks for sharing!

Works perfectly, I do confirm. Animoog or Nave with Kronos sequencer & effects is simply great...

WRT sending 16-channel midi/2-channel audio up and downstream, I'm presuming this would work by: using Apple lightning to USB camera adapter from iPad (lightning port), then using any USB A to B cable (from there- connecting USB A connector opposite lightning end) and endng with USB B connector into Kronos USB B jack?

one thing that doesn't work anymore with the ipad and the kronos is audiobus. Since a couple of updates ago the audiobus app slaves to the kronos samplerate and works on a buffersize of 235 samples instead of 256, this causes that all apps won't work anymore in audiobus. Standalone the apps works great with the kronos.

Anyone knows a solution for this?
it's on os8.1 with the latest audiobus version.

Qui- I wish I could be of more help- even though updated, Audiobus definitely needs more optimizing. I'm on iOS 8.1.2, and apps are iffy with Audiobus right now. It's been noted from other users as well. I think it's a matter of time, though; hopefully soon. Hey, Qui, is the above correct? -T.

yes it's correct, i think you have forgotten to set the usb 1 and 2 inputs
check the tutorial that starts from 8:30 how to setup the kronos to get it to work:

I should've mentioned the hardware setup portion only. Thank you, though, for the additional step/s.

This thread is just bursting with information! Thanks to everybody! That Leap Motion device looks very cool. Instead of a Windows tablet, can I use my iPad? If I can get it back from my wife of course!

Hi Sharp -

Very interesting indeed. Could you provide some details for us on :

1. What the product name is

2. Does it work with iPad?

3. Does it work with older MIDI instrument such as OASYS (or other MIDI synths or synth plugins).

4. Could you indicate the links (physical and logical) - in particular is this a musical interface with MIDI CC configuration built in or did you custom modify it

5. Mention one or two of the combi / karma parameters you linked to it and to what gesture. I've only watched the video once and wonder if you switching on or changing drum patterns (Karma scenes?) using speed or orientation of hand? Couldn't quite grasp what you were doing.

I'm not asking out of general interest but particular interest for a live event in the planning (and of course for the benefit of all who read this fascinating thread).

Thanks for your consideration on these questions.

Kevin.

The Leap Motion device could be really useful for M3 owners who don't have the M3 keyboard.

See Michael Tyson's video where he explains he is trying to fix audiobus problems - and I think he states that they came up with some fixes.
