I am trying to get the Kronos to Automate its own CC info using Ableton. I have tried to Midi Map through Ableton but none of the knobs are responding. Secondly which Control in Ableton would I have to Arm to use control the automation?

You might use midi-ox (midi monitor, and much more) on your PC to check out the midi parameters from you kronos

the best way in ableton to automate the kronos is to use a M4L device called midimapper CC. This only works in ableton suite 9 (which supports m4l)
then set it up as follows (this is a screenshot for using karma with vsts in ableton, but it works the same for automation since it uses the RTC controls midi CC's)
if you don't have ableton suite, then create an external instrument for the kronos and map the macro controls with midi mapping to the CC's mentioned in the sreenshot. You have to press the RT knobs / karma button on the kronos to use the RTC controls with those Midi CCs on the kronos.
If you search on this forum for ableton (push) combined with my name you will find several threads with lots of tips how to use the kronos with ableton. The above screenshot is also explained in one of those threads.

Are the CC's listed above the only CC's that you are able to automate? I was hoping to be able to use other CC's to control parameters such as ribbon control when I want to automate the effects inside of the Kronos.

yes you can use those as well, there are a lot more, but i prefer to use the RTC only since sthose are mapped in a combi to the parameters i prefer to automate. And in that case 8 cc's per program is more then enough automation power for my projects.
but of course you can automate almost any parameter with it, if there isn't a CC value for it then you can definitely fallback on sysex automation.

Hey Qui, Quick Question..i saw on another post you gave a guy advice who was having trouble using external instruments. He was getting audio from the output of other channels when trying to record. I have experienced this but decided to record the audio on another track as a work around. You told him that it would be better to buy a sound card instead of using the kronos to try to achieve "full integration." You also said he could attach the irons to the inputs of sound card and to refer to the setup you posted earlier in "Ableton Live." Im not sure how to locate the setup that you posted, could you elaborate a little on what you were saying and/or post a link to the set up you were referring to? I have a MOTU ultralite mk3 hybrid interface I want to attach the Kronos to.

it's really easy once you know where to find it, in the above screenshot in this thread you see a section called External Instrument (number 4), there you see an entry called: Audio From
In my case there you see: 7/8 this means that i'm using port 7/8 from my audio device where the kronos is connected to. In this drop down select the input ports you are using for your kronos. The easiest method is to start a combi in KARMA Latch mode so that it keeps playing. In the dropdownlist you will see volume meters on the channels that the kronos is using.
Then you can save the device by pressing the disk button in area 6, give it a name and your external instrument is stored as a 'vst' like instrument for ableton live. Now whenever you need it just load that kronos external instrument and everything is ready to go (audio, midi and automation). I have done this for all my external synths, effects and drumcomputers. It's a really nice feature of ableton.

Is there a list with the parameters and the #CC numbers for the Kronos?
Thanks
