Electribe 2 (E2) Midi Tests
Alright so I got done with experimenting with midi syncing and using an external controller on my new E2.
Syncing External Gear
Keep in mind the E2 is the master.
The first one I did was to play my Kaossilator pro thru the Audio in and midi sync the clock. Works like a dream. Played it through like 4 different audio in parts...and was kinda fun.
Next I ran the Volca Keys through the Audio in and this time not only do we have clock sync with E2 but now the E2 is controlling the notes on the Volca.
I had a lot more fun with this than the Kaossilator Pro because there was just more tweaking involved and and I can work the Volca for more ambiance. The notes are sequenced to the E2. giving a real FAT sound...sorta like a a Unison synth.
External Controller
As for external control over the E2, I used the Korg PadKontrol (PK). The coolest part of this is that while you have the PK on one channel say Ch3 and you are playing the E2 in keyboard mode you can play both parts at the same time. So your Left hand can be playing the part 1 and the right hand can be playing part 3 with the PK. So you can play two parts at the same time! And before you ask, YES you can record the sequencing of you playing both parts at the same time.

Thank you for the test,
I am currently waiting for my electribe2 and volca keys to arrive on back order from my local store.
Could you please explain how you exactly set these two units to sync with eachother?
Did you send the sync out of the electribe into the volca and then audio out of volca into a mixer or back into the electribe stereo input?
If of the latter, did you get any latency?
Sorry for the newbie question,i am just getting back into hardware and never used audio sync before(only used midi in past).
Regards,
Rapha

Thats pretty cool! My e2 is my first real hardware stand alone. Im aiming for eventually having a full hardware setup for production and live performance. Totally taking computers out of the equation since i dont really feel creative with them. For now electribe is gonna be the heart but i imagine eventually if i have the money i'll have a nice elektron setup like dataline.
APC80 - kaoss pad quad - Launchpad - Launch control - an iPad Air 2 with a slew of useless gimmicky apps - electribe 2 free! - and future volca owner.
I want an octotrack soo bad but they are $2000 where I live and that's really hard to justify right now256K wrote:Thats pretty cool! My e2 is my first real hardware stand alone. I ran a midi out from the E2 to the volca keys. The time code of the E2 rant the Volca clock and the Keys were controlled by Part 1 / channel 1 of the E2. Then with a 1/8 stereo cable, I ran the headphone out of the Volca Keys into the Audio in of the E2. I selected E2 parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 to be audio in oscillator to take advantage of the filters and effects of the E2.RKO wrote:Thank you for the test,

Each audio in part has completely different filter and effect settings.
This creates the unison sound effect.
I did try to use the sync but since I wanted the E2 to drive the notes on the Volca, the sync option is pretty useless to me, however I think it is great that option is available to others.
Lastly, there is no latency.
This type of set up with the Volcas is pretty fun to work with.

So far, I've ran the MIDI out from my Yamaha P150 88-key to the E2.
Actually, very good results. I sort wish the Electribe had an omni mode, but it's easy enough to change the midi channel on the P150.
The best thing about this combination is that the Yamaha is so expressive and nuanced in its velocity control. Also, lends to different type of play having a the full octave range immediately available.
Looking forward to trying this out with my Elektron Monomachine. The monomachine could act as a song sequencer

Im the same, got some hardware but have to use software to sequence it, not once this comes out!! There is nothing out there with the capability of this, MIDI, CV, even din and clock. This and an electribe would be sweet! Im still waiting for the sampler to be released and arrive at my local dawsons for me.
