KP3 sometimes doesn´t work right depending on what mixer.

Post by NicolasCastello »

Hi everyone, my name is Nicolás. I own a KP3 since a lot of years now.. i been using it processing some vocals through, using the samples and the synth´s. I know the KP3 very well and i know what´s normal and what not. Talk with a lot of people that own and use a KP3 but no one has this problems.

I found that in some mixers, the KP3 just sound with latency ( a lot ) occurs the same when i plug it into a direct box (entering with the RCA-Plug cable into the direct box and going out with XLR cable into a M-audio fast track ). With the latency issue, occurs that only sounds the effect out, but not the dry signal... and is NOT by the switch called " send - direct " in the back of the KP3. With some mixers, or plugged into a direct box, it occurs the same issue: a lot of latency and only gets out the " wet signal " with the vocals going through, doesn´t matter what i touch: the direct-send switch or the " fx depth " it´s all the same, it keeps sending only the wet signal, and not the dry + the wet signal with the vocals as it should be. Anyone knows anything about this ? Help ! i ´ve been struggling with this a lot of years now, and i would like to could use de KP3 live.

This does sound strange.
1: Are you using samples triggered via the sample program's SMP.1-7 or CrS.1-4 ?
Or
2: Are any of your mixers digital? These (mixers) can introduce a tiny latency of 1milli second -but that just creates some phasing if mixed with an analogue version of same signal.
Or
3: Are you listening to the output of your computer and this introducing hi latency?
It's not making sense. Try just using the mixer that works if you can. It sounds like you have some faulty equipment (KP or combo with these mixers).
..Are you sure you have everything wired up correctly (no dodgy XLR to phono short circuit) ?

Hi ! thanks for the message.

1) I´m not using samples whit the programs that you mention. ( the issue occurs ALL the time with this mixers and with the direct box )

2) The major of the mixers were analog, but i know what you are talking about, , this is something else: it´s too much latency, like more than a second i think.

3) It´s not about the pc or computer, insted i have no perceive latency in all the stuff that i plat through the m-audio.

It´s all correctly coneccted but i keep searching. If anyone knows something similar please write me ! Thanks.
