Hey gang, I am going to by playing Eminence Front by The Who for a live show, and I need help getting the looped sound down.

Here's the song: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yuOw5k5_OM). The loop is heard clearest from 0:00 to 0:20.

I tried doing it with Karma, but whileI came up with some great sounds, they don't sound like This. Any suggestions are appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Ableton Live can convert audio to midi - should work well for that starting sound.

Ah ok, so you're saying I should import the clip into my DAW (Sonar in my case), and do an audio-to-MIDI process. I will definitely try that, thanks Ksynth! I'll let you know how it goes.

I think Sonar does the conversion too.

And if there are too many notes (I think that intro has overlapping sequences) use Melodyne within Sonar?

Have you tried to find a midi note file version online?

You can buy the MIDI file from Yamaha. There are many layers of arpeggiation in that. Other than the Rhodes part and little saw lead, it will need to be prerecorded to sound anything like the original.

Had the same issue. I just sampled the sound and triggered the loop from one key on the keyboard.

If anybody is of a mind to recreate the (I think) Yamaha E70 organ arpeggiator stuff, this might be helpful (or I suppose you could sample it, but unfortunately it has the electric piano part in it, too):
